The Heart Behind the Home: Where Design surpasses Aesthetic

Updated: Jun 22, 2025

In the world of interior design, creating timeless spaces that seamlessly blend aesthetics with functionality is a true art form. The ability to unlock the secrets of timeless interiors lies in the careful balance of beautiful design elements that stand the test of time while also serving a practical purpose in everyday life.

When I made the decision to pursue Interior Design, I thoroughly understood the depths of the impact a space is able to make on another individual. As I approached my University experience, I contemplated studying Psychology or Interiors. Due to my own creative nature, empathetic personality, and desire to pull my many passions into one avenue, I ultimately chose Design. A friend once offered me the thought that once you find the intersection of what you love and what breaks your heart, your passions can be clearly established. My heart has always been one that bleeds for those around me, primarily in the sense of mental health and internal challenges. My mind thrives off of every creative aspect in life, from organization and planning, to painting and drawing. These patterns have followed me my entire life. This was where I found my intersection. Art, mental health, compassion, and creativity. Enter Interior Design.

Many who hear the term "Interior Designer", jump to the conclusion that this describes an individual who selects pillows and wall decor. While this is not untrue, it barely scratches the surface of what those in the field work towards. Interior Design is a compilation of interpersonal communications, technical strategies, mathematics, art, psychology of color, psychology of human behavior, project management, and much more. A strong Interior Designer will desire to connect with the client on a personal level, seeking to understand the lifestyle and qualities the family prioritizes. What is sacred to you is sacred to me. Not only should your home appear beautiful, but it should reflect your own story, support your goals, and inspire you daily. In the same way that a poorly designed home can inhibit your rest, and slow your productivity, a home that has been designed to your likeness is able to transform your daily life immeasurably.
